FESTIVAL OF FUN
WHAT IS THE FESTIVAL OF FUN?
It is a multi-faceted, family-friendly event that aims to bring people of all abilities together across one day for an inclusive, accessible, social and welcoming experience and our first two events on the Gold Coast delivered this unbelievably well.
The day is open to all, however, is specifically designed and considered for people with a disability, their families, friends, carers and guardians.
It is a day that encourages people with disabilities, their families, friends, carers, and guardians to explore, try new things, interact with service providers, socialise, have FUN, and enjoy the entertainment, culminating in a singalong concert.
Our primary audience is the person with a disability, giving them a voice in what can sometimes be a voiceless world. Together, our aim will be to deliver an event that can be shared equally by everyone, and brings everyone together.
We invite you to join us in putting people with a disability first, and create a day that helps each of us understand, appreciate, and be part of creating an inclusive and accessible environment every day for people with a disability.
Why are we doing
the FESTIVAL OF FUN?
- To bring people of all abilities together.
- To improve awareness of what true accessibility and inclusion is.
- To assist in changing attitudes to show that people with a disability are beautiful, vital members of our community.
- To raise awareness and better understanding for people with a disability within the community at large.
- Empowering People With a Disability to live a fuller, more enjoyable life.
- We want to encourage people with disabilities to be leaders at this Festival wherever they can, including performing, MCing (Master of Ceremony), assisting with crowd engagement, back stage support, administration, singers and more.
The goal is to have everyone leave the event thinking that they were central to, part of, and integral to a FUN day and therefore looking forward to the next one. We want to create change in how people with disabilities are treated and responded to as they go about their lives.
We want to make it easy for people to feel comfortable to do something as simple as saying ‘hi’. We can all make a difference in the lives of those with a disability in our community. The Festival of FUN is part of the change.
We hope all join our family on the journey to become the biggest FUN participation event in the world for people with disability.
